It was about 9.10 p.m. Karachi time. We were in the Clifton Beach for a bit over an hour. I was observing her behavior. She seemed to be feeling great as her face was vibrant. Her conditioned silky black hair was flying all different directions when she opened the window for few seconds. Her hair was touching my face and I sensed a beautiful smell coming out of her hair. She closed the window.
I asked her if she liked the Clifton Beach and the food. She gave me a beautiful smile and thanked me for giving her a very beautiful memory. She started to laugh when I told her that what would happen if the hotel authority did not let us in the hotel. The sound of her laughing was like the sound of the humming bird..I looked at her face..it was already dark outside so I could not see her face properly but the little light coming out from the dashboard was good enough to see her face..as if it was glowing.
I was praying that God gave me the strength so that I did not take any advantage of her. She was so happy and I was not let her smile go away. I knew I had to be very careful..one mistake from my side would ruin the whole situation. It seemed she trusted me and I knew I would not trade that with anything..then again, I was a young man..and I wanted to hold her cares her, touch her. She was so beautiful that all I wanted to do was to touch her and see if she was for real. I kept my promise to myself that I would not give her the reason to think any less of me.
We came to the Hotel around 10 p.m. I thanked the driver for brought us back safely to the hotel. I gave him a handsome amount of tips along with his asked fare of $50 dollar. The driver was very pleased and touched my forehead (this is how an older person gives blessing and prayer in Indian Sub continent). I lowered my head and he blessed us with happiness and love for each other. I looked at her in that dimmed light of the Hotel Front door she was kind of blushing. The driver also blessed her by raising his hand on top of her head and blessed her.
We came through the main door, there was only one person working on the front desk and he was busy with two tourists. The security guard told us just go straight to our room and we followed him to our room.
Once in the room, I told her to change and I also changed myself into a more comfortable Pajamas. I told her to sleep on the bed and I would take the Sofa. She refused to sleep on the Bed but I told her that I would be comfortable on that Sofa. I also told her that we would get a call about an hour and half earlier so that we could get ready as there was a long journey ahead of us. First we had to go to Baghdad, there was about 4 hours stopover in Baghdad and then another 8 hours to London then another 6 hours stopover in London Heathrow Airport and then another 7 hours to New York. I told her that I would take a shower and so should she too.
She did not argue with me. She made my bed on that sofa and gave me a pillow and a blanket. Then she took the bed. She turned off the light and turned on the blue dim light. We could see each other trying to sleep.
I knew she did not sleep. In fact she should not have slept having an unknown man in her room. So I called her by her name and told her. Just go to sleep. I am a perfect gentleman as we have a very long journey ahead. She did not say anything….I knew she fell in sleep.
Slowly I fell on sleep. I woke up around 4 a.m. when I heard the telephone ring from the front desk. I picked up the phone and the voice from the other side told me to get ready as we had to go to the Airport at 5 a.m. She already woke up by then. I told her to freshen up. Once she came back from bathroom I went and did my morning ritual along with a nice shower. I just cannot open my eyes without taking a shower.
