      Welcome to YellowTAXIblog.com

I am a NYC yellow taxi driver who wants to create a blog site for the taxi drivers where taxi drivers will be able to express their views and share their stories. This blog is for everyone who wants to say something about the taxi drivers whether it is a complaint or a complement or a suggestion. I will protect the identity of the taxi drivers so that they can feel free without exposing themselves to the NYPD and TLC. I will help other taxi drivers in any way possible. Please give me information, I will make sure that the information will be published. Thanks for your support. Together we will fight against all kinds of injustice...

Future NYC Yellow Taxi with Pictures.

Please vote for the new standard NYC Yellow Taxi design. Hopefully your vote will help the city to decide which one to select. Thanks for voting.
Dear Friends,
Last night while I was watching TV news, there was a big news for the New York City yellow Taxi. The 3 finalists from a select group of car manufacturers were unveiled with the pictures by Mayor Bloomberg with TLC Chairman. The city named three finalists as a possible standard choice for yellow taxi.

1.The first design is from a Turkish company named The Karsan, doesn’t exist at all yet. 2. A small van made by Nissan Motor Co, only available in Europe; while the third finalist Ford Motor Co.’s Transit Connect van is on sale in the U.S.

There are more than 13000 yellow taxis in New York City and currently have more than 16 different models from different car manufacturing companies. I personally found this different models to be more problem than solution. Why did I say that..? Let me explain.. in a hotel taxi line or even in the airports we are in the line may be for one hour but all of a sudden the door man either ask a minivan from the line to go ahead of us or sometimes door men stop a minivan from the street because the passengers either wanted a mini van need a minivan. Who knows when the next passenger would come so we lose valuable time. On the other hand few times I was brought to pick up a passenger because the passenger requested an SUV which I drive and I think that is not fair for the other cab drivers who were in the line having a sedan. But if there was a single choice this kinds of situation would never happened. So I am all for a single standard Taxi and it will bring back those iconic Taxi image like the Checkers.
I can talk about many other details of this proposal but to make it more like a post instead of a newspaper article I am letting you know the know the most important points about the 3 finalists.

1. The Karsan, a Turkish automaker for Fiat and Hyundai totally a new approach from grounds up. . It has a glass roof (so tourists can see the skyscrapers, the company said), seating for five and a fold-out wheelchair ramp. It’s the only finalist that is wheelchair-accessible. Karsan designed it specifically in response to New York’s request for proposals with all the different criteria given for the design.

2. A small minivan made by Nissan Motor Co. This is based on one of their current model already in the market. It seems from the photo that this European inspired design is some what related to Nissan Quest but of course especially built around the specification given by the city.

3. The last one is offered by Ford Motor Company. So far it looks like that this model is designed based on Ford Pickup F series which is a very popular model. The model is higher than other two models.

What about my opinion..?
I think since The Karson will be built from grounds up and not following any perticular model, it will be more tailored towards the needs of Yellow Taxi. And the glass roof is also an extra very useful feature which none of the other two have.

Thanks for reading my blog as usual. See you again soon.
