Life is full of mysteries, full of events and full of moments. We take decisions everyday based on our experiences in our lives. Some decisions are good and some decisions are not so good but we risk ourselves knowing the outcome. Today I had a great experience and I couldn’t wait to share it with you my friends. So without much ado about nothing let me tell you what happened…
I picked up this gentleman from Park Ave and 62nd St. to go to JFK Airport at about noon today. He seemed to be in a very.. I would say not in a very good mood. I gave him few minutes to unwind and relax. Sensing a story here I started to advance with some targeted questions. I asked him if he was OK. He answered calmly that he was fine. I stopped on the traffic light and bought 2 bottles of water from the street vendor and offered him a bottle of water. he accepted the water graciously and thanked me profoundly. I was happy that he seemed to be at ease and I am sure he was feeling better sitting inside the cab. I was trying to read this gentleman who seemed to be a wealthy person through the rear-view mirror. I saw a man who seemed to be in some kinds of trouble. He had a Gold Rolex on I noticed when he tried to make a call with his left hand but unfortunately the call was going to someones voicemail. First he just cut off the phone..then the next minute he called again and sure enough it went to the voicemail. This time he left a message in a very calm but assertive voice (knowing that he was in the cab and someone is listening),” “What happened to you..? Why don’t you answer my call..? Call me ASAP..I am going to the airport and you better call me before I leave for Germany. You know which number to get me.” I felt a chilling sensation throughout my whole body and I knew this is the man you don’t want to mess around with. This man looked in his early 50s, white, very well dressed, and very handsome.
I was already out of Manhattan and cruising through LIE after crossed Midtown Tunnel. I was minding my own business as I felt I should not bother him. But I kept my ear on in case the guy who he left messages for calls. I was literally praying that he calls. I did not have to wait that long. I was about to get onto Grand Central Parkway when the phone rang. He picked up the phone and started to grill this caller…some of his conversations were like this,” Why didn’t you pick up my phone..? I trusted you but I don’t know how did my wife find out..? I paid $300,000.00 dollars for what..? You told me that I needed to pay 2 years rent in advance and I did that. I told you specifically that my wife should never find out about her..(I assumed his mistress)…find out who did my wife find out about her from..?I want to know and I want you to make up story and it better be a very convincing one so that I can tell my wife and one thing..make sure we both are in same page. I am going to Germany and will be back on Friday. Call me in Germany so that I get enough time to make my act together.” I was listening and I knew that the caller was a rental agent or some kinds of Real Estate agent. I also figuire out that this wealthy man has a younger mistress and he paid 2 years of rent in a very high class, very expensive building. Think about this my friends..it is $150,000.00 dollars a year that is about $12,500.00 dollars a month for his love nest..how much money this guys might have..we are busting our chops just to make $100 dollars a day..where this guy is paying in advance $300,000.00 dollars for 2 years of having a mistress. And I can assure you this is just the beginning as he must spend may be another million dollars on her a year.
Anyway I dropped him in Lufthansa terminal. He paid $55.00 dollars ($45.00 +$.50+ $4.57= $50.07..that means he gave me a tip of $4.93..). I smiled and accepted the money. What a pity..this guy who seems to be a multi millionaire who does not mind to spend millions for his mistress but he counts his pennies when tipping to a cab driver..? Heck I even bought him a bottle of water. You know my friends…money can’t buy happiness and it surely can not buy class.
