Mr. David Pollack should be the new TLC Chairman….
Last week I met Mr. David Pollack, the Editor in Chief of the monthly Taxi Insiders newspaper. I called him few days before and he seemed to be a real gentleman over the phone. So I went to see Mr. Pollack at his office in Jackson Ave, long Island City. He was waiting for me in his office. When I reached his office he was busy with talking someone over the phone. He apologized to me for taking a bit too long and I was not in a hurry. So I started to look around and I was amazed to see so many Yellow Taxi related souvenirs in his office. There are so many pictures taken with different important people during his time working as a taxi driver and as well as the Editor of the Taxi Insider magazine. Anyway after finishing his telephone conversation he welcomed me in his office. I was really impressed by all his accomplishments and vast knowledge he poses about the yellow taxi industry.

So we crossed the road and went to have our lunch in a diner nearby. We started to talk about the current New York City Streets and taxi rules and regulations. I was really very impressed by the knowledge he poses about the industry and about all the other things which makes him …I suggest to the Mayor..in fact ask Mr. Mayor to appoint him as the next TLC Chairman. I understand that the current TLC Chairman still very new in his job but I can tell you that the Mayor would not find a better candidate for TLC Chairman. He has more than 20 years of driving experience and he will be able to look after taxi drivers interest. There were so many TLC Chairmen have gone by but I suspect if anyone had a taxi drivers experience for years let alone the vast knowledge Mr. David Pollack poses.

I would also suggest the Mayor that if for any reason the new TLC Chairman cannot be transferred to a different dept. I would still ask him to appoint Mr. David Pollack as may be the deputy TLC Chairman. This mayor has a history of putting wrong people in the wrong job like appointing Ms. Khan as the Transportation Commissioner who basically is a Lawyer and Ms. Cathie Black who has only a Bachelor degree to rule over god knows how many PhD’s and Masters degree holders. But to appoint Mr. David Pollack he can do at least one appointment right. The more I talked to Mr. Pollack, the more I was impressed by his credentials. He would be a great addition to TLC and when the current chairman leaves Mr. Pollack will be the new Chairman of TLC. By appointing a lifelong taxi driver, you will show the proper respect to all the taxi drivers.
