Dear Friends…
Every year we all get excited for the new year and start to make a lot of plan and resolution. There are so many planning and preparation go on before the new year arrive but how many of us really do what we promised to ourselves better yet how many of us really just look back just 4 days into the new year whether if anything is really going well or not. Yes my friends..this is only 4th day of January and I started to ask these questions to all my passengers..
Question # 1 ( I ask same question with a little variation depending on the person):
“So Miss..how is your New Year’s resolution coming up so far..?”OR “Mam..did you have any special plan for the new year..?” Or “How are you doing in the new year..?”
The answers are varied…here are some of the examples..
Answers:
-”Yes..I do have a new year resolution and that is…(she started to laugh … and was trying to remember…) Nope..no resolution..actually I always think of something but never end up working on it..so you can say no resolution.”
-” I am not that strong characters woman..I don’t have anything in mind as I never could keep up my words and that is a big problem..( she started to laugh like the other woman)…
-” Yes I do have a resolution and this year I wi9ll definitely stick with it. I want to loose weight, eat healthy, quit smoking, stop drinking beer..those smell so gross..and all the good things in life. Yup..I will keep my promise this year…” So I was very happy to see a woman who knew what she wanted. Guess what..when I dropped her off at her place. She paid me a hefty tip and walked way. She looked back and raised her hand ..so I thought she might have left something in the cab. So I looked back but there was nothing she left behind..she came to the car, I lowered the window glass. She smiled and told me,” Do you want to know a secret?” Before I answered ..she told me which I was not prepe4ared for after thinking of her a super woman..she told me,” I lied to you..hahahahah.” I was speechless. I asked her,” How could you lie with such a strong conviction..?” She told me,” This is the problem with me. I can lie for anything and you know what I was just playing with you..I can tell you that I don’t feel good about myself because of my habit..” I saw a deep darkness on her face. I told her,” Do you really want your New Year’s resolution…? I can give you one..try not to lie.. you are a human being..if you lie ..you will be lied to. You have to consciously take a small step everyday.” She thanked me and walked way.
-”Yes..my resolution is to make a lot of money and for that i will work as hard as possible.” A man told me with a very strong thick Southern voice.
-” I don’t believe in that because no one in my friends or family ever kept a promise when comes to New Year resolution.” I admired her honesty.
-”New Years resolution..? You made me laugh..no one ever keeps his resolution. So I don’t have one.”
-”Yup..I will try to stop smoking. I know it is bad for my health and this year will be the last year of my smoking…” I started to laugh and asked him,” What did you say..? You just said that you would stop this year..do you know you will say the same thing next year because you are giving yourself a whole year…you got to stop now, not tomorrow..not next month or next year.”
-”This year I will try to get back custody of my son who lives with his mom and step dad.” I looked at his face through the rear view mirror and I saw a father who misses his son. I felt so bad about him.
