Dear Friends…
The 11 March 2011 Tohoku Pacific earthquake was the strongest (8.9 magnitude) ever recorded in Japan and triggered the country’s worst disaster of the post-war era. I express my deepest regret at the loss of life and offer my condolences to those affected by this tragedy.
No nation is immune from all kinds of natural devastation and that includes the Mighty Japan, arguably the most technologically advanced and wealthiest country in the world. Earthquake in Japan is nothing new..in fact Japanese people have been facing earthquakes after earthquakes throughout the time.
Japan gets so much earthquakes because the islands of Japan are above a line. This line is the middle of two Tectonic plates (slabs of the earths crust). These two plates rub together, and when they do this, it causes an earthquake. As Japan is above the two slabs, it gets a lot more earthquakes than other places in the world.
Since Japan is one of the most powerful and wealthiest countries in the world, this earthquake has a very harsh implication years to come. I am sure this would be the costliest natural disaster in the world. I think the total cost would be close to a trillion dollars and that amount of money would be a huge load of money no matter how wealthy the country is.
