So the streets are closed mainly from 59th St and upwards leaving the Mid town open for traffic. But since this was a half marathon..the race was inside the city and 5th Ave to 12th Ave to all the way Battery Park City were closed and you can imagine the nightmare of driving one place to another.
I picked up a very nice young woman who was a teacher and wanted to go to 14th St and 1st Ave. I asked how should I go and she told me to take the FDR. I know I could go straight down to 14th St using West Side Highway as I was on Broadway and 116th St. I knew had I gone through 96th St entrance from 1st Ave..she would pay at least $7-$8 dollars more so I suggested going through West Side Highway and she said yes..But guess what I got stuck in the traffic and it took me more than an hour to get out of the mess and finally I reached her destination in Brooklyn as she asked me to go directly instead after about one and half hour later.
I was so embarrassed to her and I kept apologizing for my bad judgement but Ms. Tania was such a sweetheart that she was assuring me not to worry. After I dropped her off I went to JFK airport and waited there more than 3 hours to get a job back to Manhattan. I never had such a hard time to earn few dollars in my life. But if you think my friends that was it..guess again.
I finished my work around 4 pm and I had to go to get some DVD of Pakistani TV dramas for my wife. I would say my friends Pakistani TV dramas are million times better than Indian TV Dramas. If you ever have a chance just watch in YouTube searching for Pakistani TV drama..
I parked my taxi in a Chinese Grocery Store where I always shop for fresh fruit and other grocery. I wanted to change the DVD and then buy some groceries. I went to exchange the DVD as one of the DVD was not working. I went in the store and asked for another one and they gave it to me and I ran back with in 2 and half minutes. When I came back there was a tow truck blocking my taxi ..I was so surprised to see him locking my car as it was only 2 and a half minutes.
He demanded me $100 otherwise he threatened me to tow my taxi. I could not believe my ears and eyes. It was a total robbery and I had no chance at all. I plead him for $50 but that low life Hispanic bastard did not even buzz. I told him the whole situation about the whole day being wasted..nut he smelled money and finally i had to give him $100 and he just unlock my taxi and sped away without giving me even a receipt. That means he will not even give the money to the tow company.
I felt like the biggest fool in the world. He robbed me of my hard earn money in just 2 minutes…I saw the sign saying that the car will be towed away but did not realize it would be that fast. The tow truck must be somewhere nearby.
Anyway I would never do it again and I will never shop in that place again. and for the tow truck driver..I know the nature has a strange way of taking care of things..he will pay for it dearly. I know it and I also believe in Karma.
